Still the year is coming to an end and I am taking the time to look back at some of my favorite things! Some things here have been mentioned on my favorites posts and others may be new things that I've gotten for Christmas. This post also may be a little long but I hope anyone who makes it through really enjoys it!!
While we were on the bus I didn't even know this was a stop on the drive! It came as such a surprise to me that we were stopping and it wasn't even a long stop so we looked quick and had to get back on the road.
On the way to the Route 66 stop we watched a video about Angel Delgadillo and how he worked to revive the route. The things I learned during this trip honestly...I would have never known about this place or Angel's story. I was able to snap some pictures while there, like in the barbershop
And of course there's a shout out to Cars.
Good times but it's time to get back on the road for the grand finale.
This is the long day, we were on a bus for well over 7 hours and I honestly was so thankful to get back to the hotel after it all...but that's later there's a lot of pictures to show. This was such a nice day to have this type of tour, the sun was just so bright and the sky so clear, it made for amazing pictures. This is the Hoover Dam! I don't remember all the facts we heard from our tour guide but I do know that that light area on the mountains? Yea, that is where the water level used to be. So the dam has lost a lot of water over the years. I found that fascinating and seeing it in person is just...wow all of that water is gone.
This is the Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.
Now more pictures, we didn't stay at this stop very long so most of the pictures are from the bus which ... yea that's lame but it has to do. The Dam was honestly so cool to look at and see all the parts that went into putting it together and the stories around the Dam.
And me. :D
As if my mother believes in wasting a minute in a trip, we spent all of day 2 in Vegas walking around and shopping! It was so hot so I think we spent a lot of time buying water and stopping for breaks. Then I finally convinced my mother to get a much needed cab.
If I would've planned ahead I would have taken pictures for a mini haul of what I purchased on this day but I didn't think I'd have this blog at the time, next time. I did buy these Quay sunglasses 'About Last Night'. They were $45 which I think is a lot for sunglasses, but omg I'm in love with them and totally understand the need to buy quality sunglasses.
The highlight of this day though was going to see Mariah Carey at Caesar's Palace! I knew I wanted to go see her as soon as her residency was announced - which is the real reason for this Vegas trip. My mom made it happen too and I'm forever grateful that she did and I was able to check another artist off my "People I MUST see live before they stop touring" list.
For this night I went with a coral colored dress from Forever 21 ( similar look here ). I was hesitant to wear this dress at first but it ended up working out for the weather and the occasion. I styled it with these pumps from the Jennifer Lopez line at Kohl's. These shoes, I kid you not, are SO comfortable. (If only I hadn't been walking around all day I probably wouldn't have ended up walking through the hotel barefoot...)
The concert was so amazing, she looked amazing, sounded amazing, I would recommend anyone to go. All of the favs were sung so you know the words and can sing along. The emotional favorites were there too so a few tears were shed. It was intimate and funny at the same time, like when Mariah brought a fan on stage. We got through the 18 songs so fast I wanted more!
This summer I had the blessing of being able to go to Vegas with my mom! I was so excited since the last time I had been to Vegas I was 9 so I couldn’t really do much. Back then Vegas wasn’t geared towards families like it is now. I still need to go again – now that I’m legal, but this trip was so memorable.
This summer was the first time that I had been on a flight in YEARS! I was super nervous and praying through the whole flight…well we had connecting flights so I was praying through both of them. My mom found it funny that I even like sitting on the window seat since I get so nervous. I find the window seats to be the best seats because that’s where the view is! (It only sucks when you have to go to the bathroom.)
I was so ready to arrive though, the flight was long but I couldn’t rest! I finished a whole book during the flight to Vegas but this trip was better than anything in the book.
We landed, claimed our luggage (which was too heavy for us to be carrying) and got to our hotel right away but we didn’t have much time to relax. My mom had our whole trip planned so I rested my feet a bit and changed to get ready for our night tour!
I have to say I really loved my hair during this trip, and the outfit that I wore this night.
Time for the sightseeing!!
It was a long tour but I saw a lot and learned a lot about Vegas. This is what’s great about my mom, without her I would have never gone on this tour and seen all of the sights. It was a great night and I couldn’t wait to get in bed after.
